Benefit brings Alisan Porter and more for Pawstively 4 Pink's Rhythm for Ribbons

Article on Worcester Magazine by Sarah Connell Sanders for Pawsitively 4 Pink’s Rhythm 4 Ribbons Event.

Excerpt: “On Oct. 22 from noon to 8 p.m., P4P will host its biggest event yet — Rhythm for Ribbons at Polar Park. Entertainment will include R&B, soul, and pop performances along with acapella by Ball in the House, country music by Country Wild Band, and “old-school” rock with On The Rocks Band. Other highly anticipated artists include Katie Kaden, The Dave Macklin Band, and Ashley Jordan. Alumni of “The Voice,” Ricky Duran and Alisan Porter are also set to take the stage.

The idea of watching Porter perform is particularly intriguing to me. I remember seeing her adorable 10-year-old face plastered across town when she starred alongside Jim Belushi in the 1991 John Hughes comedy-drama, “Curly Sue.” Porter played a pint-sized grifter with the voice of an angel. She went on to join the original cast of the 2006 Broadway revival of “A Chorus Line.” Then in 2016, Porter won Season 10 of The Voice, becoming the first contestant to triumph under the guidance of a female coach — Christina Aguilera. Porter is a Worcester legend, and she’s bringing it home for P4P. “

Power said she started the organization because she had witnessed several family members, friends and acquaintances struggle emotionally, spiritually and financially, including her own mother who worried so much about finances she delayed getting a home hospital bed to avoid paying a higher electric bill.
