A breast cancer diagnosis changes everything. For many women, the battle isn’t only medical—it’s financial, emotional, and deeply personal. The Power to Thrive Program provides direct financial support and compassionate resources to help women maintain stability during and after treatment.
What is the Power to Thrive Program?
The Power to Thrive Program is Pawsitively 4 Pink’s core financial assistance initiative designed to support low-income women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Cancer treatment often creates unexpected financial hardship. Many women must reduce work hours, take medical leave, or stop working entirely while managing treatment and recovery. At the same time, everyday expenses—housing, food, utilities, and transportation—continue to accumulate.
The Power to Thrive Program ensures that women facing breast cancer do not have to choose between healing and basic survival.
Through this program, Pawsitively 4 Pink provides financial assistance and support services that help women maintain stability during treatment and for up to six months after treatment ends.
Because when basic needs are met, women can focus on what matters most: their health, their families, and their future.
Depending on individual circumstances, assistance may include support for essential living expenses such as:
- Housing and rent assistance
- Mortgage payments
- Utility bills
- Groceries and basic food needs
- Transportation to medical appointments
- Emergency living expenses during treatment
Each situation is carefully reviewed so that support is meaningful, practical, and responsive to real needs.

A Mother's Livelihood at Risk
When Bitadni was diagnosed with breast cancer, her life changed overnight. She and her husband had run an in-home daycare for nearly 18 years, caring for children in their community.
But during treatment, doctors advised her that managing a home full of children could expose her to infections while her immune system was weakened. Suddenly, the business that supported her family had to close.
With their income gone and a mortgage still due each month, the stress of financial uncertainty became overwhelming.
Pawsitively 4 Pink stepped in through the Power to Thrive Program, providing mortgage assistance so her family could stay in their home while she focused on treatment and healing.
Because of that support, Bitadni was able to concentrate on recovery instead of worrying about losing the roof over her family’s head.

The Power to Thrive Program supports women who:
- Have been diagnosed with breast cancer
- Are experiencing financial hardship due to treatment
- Meet income eligibility guidelines
- Live in Massachusetts
